Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a challenging year, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the top ten and finally separating with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the past month - culminating in a closely contested competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks the player's first championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface after spring of that year.

The win also indicates the Russian has won 21 championships at twenty-one distinct events.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my children simultaneously, so to secure a title is particularly special," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his previous six finals, comprising in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive approach and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to perform at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform aggressively, backed up by an better serve.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five points to take the lead.

Both players traded breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his initial professional title, gained dominance to force a decider.

He defended 4 initial break points in a close third set before the Russian broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner earned victory with a shot at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
